BREWERY PROPOSED IN BROOKLYN
A new brewery and restaurant are proposed within the warehouse district of the Brooklyn neighborhood, as first reported by Jax Daily Record.
The project, being referred to as Dora Block, would involve renovating an old church near the corner of Dora and Chelsea streets into a brewery and beer garden as well as adding an adjacent restaurant building.
It’s likely to draw complaints of gentrification, as it’s located west of Park St. in an area that has, up to now, been untouched by modern developers.
That being said, it would also help the Brooklyn neighborhood regain some development momentum – and would complement the Burlock and Barrel distillery planned just a few blocks away.
AC HOTEL ANNOUNCED FOR THE DISTRICT
The District announced the brand of its future hotel: AC Hotel by Marriott. It’ll be the first of that brand to be built in Jacksonville.
However, the start of construction may be delayed as Jacksonville Business Journal reported this week that JEA has granted the project’s developers yet another extension on making the actual purchase of its land along the Southbank.
