Jacksonville-based nonprofit organization Wounded Warrior Project is hosting its final Carry Forward 5K Fitness Challenge at their headquarters at 4899 Belfort Road on Saturday, November 10.
The event, sponsored by CSX, will feature a walking and running 5K course. Participants can also form teams and test their limits with three unique challenges. For the “Flag” challenge, participants carry a flag for the duration of the race. The “Fitness” challenge takes it up a notch, with teams or individuals carrying a weight ranging between 1 to 100 pounds. And for the teams-only “Fierce” challenge, teams carry one of their team members throughout the course, never letting them touch the ground.
Proceeds from the event will benefit Wounded Warrior Project’s mission of empowering, employing, and engaging America’s injured veterans.
“As we approach the last Carry Forward of the year in Jacksonville, I want to thank and congratulate all the participants, supporters and volunteers who have made this possible,” said WWP CEO Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Mike Linnington. “Carry Forward doesn’t just fuel our mission to honor and empower Wounded Warriors – it puts it into action. These events connect fellow service members and people in the community with one another, forging strong bonds and relationships that support a life-changing healing process.”
The race will begin at 8:30 AM. To register for the event, visit http://wwpcarryforward.org/jacksonville. To participate remotely, visit http://wwpcarryforward.org/virtual.
