So far, it’s been a quiet beginning to 2017 for Jacksonville development news. However, we still have a few interesting bits of news to note, starting with some major changes coming for Al’s Pizza at the beach.
Al’s (Craft) Pizza
There are big changes planned for Al’s Pizza in Atlantic Beach.
According to a report from the Florida Times-Union, Al’s Pizza will leave its current Atlantic Beach location to move down the street to 240 3rd St.
The new location will not be an Al’s Pizza… technically. It will be known as Al’s Craft Pizza Co. and will feature craft beer as well as wood-fired pizza made with imported Italian dough. It’ll also focus on more upscale entrees.
In its old Atlantic Beach spot, Al’s owner Al Mansur plans to open a new restaurant called Coop 303 Southern Bistro and Spirits. This new concept will serve Southern classics such as chicken and waffles.
Al’s Craft Pizza Co. is expected to open in March according to the T-U piece, whereas Coop 303 will likely open later in the year.
Miramar expansion for Roost Restaurants
The Local, a concept from Roost Restaurants, will soon go in at 4578 San Jose Blvd. in Miramar, according to the Daily Record.
Roost Restaurants is the group behind The Roost, the Riverside restaurant planned for 2219 Oak St. that has been held up by complaints from neighbors.
It now appears that The Roost will move forward as well – albeit with a few conditions. The restaurant will not have TVs, will close by 11:00 PM on weeknights, and will not feature live entertainment after 10:00 PM.
Noted projects
- Tropical Smoothie was issued a permit for a new location at River City Marketplace.
- Plans have emerged to replace the former Pier 1 Imports location at 9395 Atlantic Blvd. with a brand-new Chipotle, according to the Daily Record. The Pier 1 building would be demolished.
