Today marks the one-year anniversary of The Coastal’s launch on December 1, 2015.
Yay, it’s our birthday!
This is a big moment for us. Luckily we don’t have to worry about normal one-year-old problems like learning how to walk or talk, but like any one-year-old we’re still eager to grow.
In the coming month, we’ll be making the final adjustments on the first-ever paper edition of The Coastal. That’s just one of several exciting new developments we’ve got planned for our second year.
Over the past year, we’ve already grown quite a bit. We’ve already easily surpassed the 10,000-reader goal we set for ourselves last year, and expanded to cover new topics based on reader feedback. We’ve launched popular article series like Building Up Jax, our weekly update on development news around Jacksonville. Our Jax Evolved series was also an unexpected hit, especially among long-time Jax residents.
Most importantly, we’re starting to see growing enthusiasm about Jacksonville and its future. Our mission has been to engage a new generation of Jax residents. This new generation has a fresh perspective, and a passion for helping the city and all of its residents.
The response we’ve gotten has been amazing. Amidst all the talk of Jacksonville being a “boring city” or a city where no one cares, we’ve found the exact opposite to be true. There is a clear desire among our readers and our friends to make Jacksonville the amazing city we all know it can be.
On the 1-year anniversary of our launch, we want to extend our thanks to you, our readers. We also want to ask for your help in spreading the word about The Coastal and bringing others into this movement.
We’re just getting started, and together we will change Jacksonville for the better.
Stay tuned for another year of great articles, memories, and a few big announcements along the way!
