The Jacksonville Sharks are wasting no time in assembling their roster for next season as they look to defend their 2019 NAL championship.
The team has re-signed several players from its 2019 championship team, including center Derrick Zeigler, linebacker/fullback Zack Brown, defensive back/kick returner Tony Goodman, and offensive lineman/fullback Jaleel Brown.
Zeigler, a two-time All-NAL center, will be entering his third season with the Sharks. Goodman, entering his second year with the Sharks, led the league in kick return yards and touchdowns last season. Brown, also entering his second year with the team, scored three rushing touchdowns during the Sharks’ successful postseason run.
In addition to those re-signings, the team has added linebacker Fred Williams as their first new signee for the 2020 season. Williams previously played for the Carolina Energy of the American Arena League, where he was named the league’s defensive player of the year.
The Sharks have also made a big change to their coaching staff, with the team promoting defensive coordinator James Fuller to head coach after failing to negotiate an extension with Siaha Burley. Fuller was the NAL Assistant Coach of the Year in 2019.
The team will kick off its eleventh season next spring.
