This week, EverBank Field’s amphitheater project gets a name, Armada fans are getting a new soccer retail shop, plus a few other interesting new projects.

Daily’s Place coming soon

Yesterday morning, the city and the Jaguars held a groundbreaking ceremony for the proposed amphitheater and flex-field addition to EverBank Field. The name for the project has been officially announced as Daily’s Place.

Mayor Curry was in attendance, along with Shad Khan and Daily’s CEO Aubrey Edge.

Daily’s is owned by Jacksonville-based First Coast Energy. The exact terms of their naming rights deal are currently unknown.

The massive project is expected to be completed by next summer, and includes a 94,000 square foot flex field and an amphitheater that will seat 5,500 people.

The project marks the second phase of the $90 million in upgrades planned for EverBank Field by the city and the Jaguars. The first phase, which included the US Assure Club renovations and remodeled end zone entrance, was completed earlier this month.

We Got Soccer

The Southside area is getting a new soccer store. We Got Soccer will open a retail location at 8570 Philips Highway, according to Jax Daily Record.

The Massachusetts-based company is an official sponsor of the Armada FC, and currently operates the team’s online fan shop. The location will include an extensive Armada apparel section.

The location in Philips Plaza is a bit unorthodox; the shopping center is currently occupied mostly by non-retail businesses.

That being said, the store is certain to be a hit among the Armada’s passionate fan base.

Downtown additions

Two quick pieces of downtown Jax development news, both coming via The Florida Times-Union:

Wine Decadence will open soon in one of the ground floor retail units of The Carling building at 31 W. Adams St.

The Bank BBQ & Bakery will open Monday at 331 W. Forsyth St.

On the business side of things: International Décor Outlet LLC officially signed its lease to move into One Enterprise Center at 225 Water St. downtown, according to Jax Daily Record. The company is best known as the future operator of the west wing of Regency Square Mall.

Noted projects

  • Five Points Tavern is now open in the former O’Brothers space in Riverside.
  • Popular church Eleven22 purchased a property at 4911 Losco Rd. from Access Church for $3.4 million, according to multiple sources.
