Earlier this morning, the 39th annual GATE River Run took place in downtown Jacksonville. Over 16,000 runners participated, with Tara Welling finishing first overall and Stanley Kebenei finishing first among men and a close second overall.
Naturally, whenever there’s a big event you can also expect a ton of commentary on social media. We compiled some of the best tweets from today’s race:

Port-a-Potties for days
Needed a bathroom break? Looks like you were probably good to go.
By the way, if you need a porta-potty, there are 167 of them in lot J alone. #GateRiverRun2016 pic.twitter.com/pvcSuaM5cw

Hydration was key
And snacks can never hurt.
Beer, mimosas, shots, Jell-O shots. Strawberries, sausage links, freeze pops. aka #gateriverrun2016 #thecoastal #ilovejax
