Styles to Try for Jacksonville’s Cooler Seasons

While Florida may be a popular refuge for snowbirds in the winter, cities like Jacksonville do get their fair share of cooler weather, particularly in the evenings.

Nonetheless, it’s completely possible to stay comfortable, dry, warm, and stylish all at the same time. Here are a few styles that are sure to keep you polished and cozy during Jacksonville’s cooler months.

1.  Layered Textures

Layering your clothes is the key to enjoying the cooler seasons in Jacksonville. During the winter months, it can be a good idea to wear at least one extra layer of clothing. After a chilly morning, Midday will likely become warm enough that you’ll want to remove your top layer. This warmth may quickly cool down into a brisk evening, and you’ll be grateful for a jacket or sweater. Not to mention, humid cold can feel much chillier on the skin than the number on the thermometer seem to suggest.

Style-wise layering also gives you the opportunity to add pieces to your outfit that help to vary and flatter your form and textures. The key to stylish layering is to not allow the extra layers to become overly blocky or disrupt the clean lines of your silhouette. Each layer should fit your form and style as well as the clothes beneath do.

2.  Fashionable Umbrellas

Winter rains can really dampen your mood if you happen to get soaked through and stuck in cold and soggy clothes for the evening. One stylish way to protect yourself from chilly rains is to carry an umbrella with you. While you should definitely invest in a good raincoat, there’s just something special and poetic about an umbrella. Not to mention it helps to preserve both your hairstyle and makeup without forcing you to pull up a hood.

A smaller umbrella can be more practical for walking around town, particularly in a crowd. Larger umbrellas, on the other hand, give you the opportunity to offer some hospitality and bring others under the shelter.

3.  Scarves

Scarves are a must-have for the cooler weather both for men and women. They offer a versatile warmth that can be easily removed and stowed when the sun comes out or when you step into a heated interior.

Scarves are also versatile in their form. Longer scarves can be wrapped many times to keep you warm during chilly breezes, while shorter carves make fashionable tight knots. Change the look of your favorite scarf from day to day just by how you tie it – or invest in a number of scarves so you always have the right one for the occasion.

4.  Sweaters and Vests

Having a stock of nice sweaters is essential to keeping you warm in that humid cold. Sweaters offer a blanket layer of warmth, for when it’s not exactly cold enough to bother with a bulky jacket outdoors. And, unlike most coats, it’s not considered rude to also wear your sweater inside so you can keep that warmth with you.

5.  Polished Grooming

Jacksonville might be a casually dressed town for the majority of its residents, but it’s still the right place to make a good impression with some grooming savvy.

This could include hair products to keep your humidity frizz at bay or sprays to give yourself beachy waves while journeying by the coast. When it’s winter, you might choose to grow a beard for the added warmth over the winter, so consider pro grooming supplies such as a beard straightener to keep the humidity from turning your beard into a tangled mess.

Versatility is the ideal to take you through warm days into cooler nights, but that’s no reason to sacrifice your personal style. A few layers and an umbrella to keep you waterproof can go a long way for transitioning your clothes for the winter season.
