Along Edgewood Avenue in the heart of Murray Hill lies one of Jacksonville’s best pizza joints: Moon River Pizza.

Moon River Pizza’s spot at 1176 Edgewood Avenue S. – the first and best-known of their two Jax-area locations – is bright and funky, and surprisingly large for an order-at-the-counter pizza place. (Their second location is at 925 S. 14th St. in Fernandina Beach.)

Moon River offers handmade pizza, both as whole pies and by the slice. Unlike many other pizza joints who often throw in pasta dishes or wings, Moon River keeps their menu simple by offering only pizza, calzones, and salads.

Their pizzas are entirely fresh-made, which can sometimes lead to a longer wait time – but it’s worth it. Their slices are cheesy but not too greasy, their crust is soft and fresh, and their tomato sauce has great hints of sweetness.

Their specialty pizza options include a white pizza, meat-lovers pizza, and a pineapple-covered option. They also offer vegan and gluten-free pizza options.

Their lunch special lets you get two slices and a soft drink for under $7, though a cheese slice is already fairly cheap at just $2.50.

For your drinking pleasure, they offer local, domestic and import beers – both draft and canned. They even offer pitchers starting at $11.50, and they also have a selection of wines available if that’s more your speed.

The restaurant is open Monday through Saturday from 11 AM to 10 PM for both dine-in and carry-out customers. To place an order, call (904) 389-4442.

Next time you’re over in Murray Hill, stop by Moon River and grab a slice!
