A Running List of Notable Musicians and Bands from Jacksonville

LAST UPDATE: Sept 18, 2018 at 5:45 PM

Over the years, many talented musical acts have established their roots in Jacksonville. Whether it be artists who were born here, or bands for whom everything came together here, the Bold City boasts a history of prolific musical acts.

It even largely served as the birthplace of the sub-genre of southern rock, with pioneering bands like .38 Special and Lynyrd Skynyrd first establishing themselves in Jax.

So to honor the city’s musical background, we’ve started compiling a list of all the noteworthy acts that started out in Jacksonville – even if their career paths later took them elsewhere. Where applicable, we also added one of their more noteworthy songs as well.

This list is far from comprehensive, so if you see someone who should be added, let us know in the comments section!
