After what’s seemed like an endless construction process, downtown eatery Cowford Chophouse will officially open its doors to the public on October 26.
The announcement, released earlier today, comes after the new restaurant hosted a private preview party earlier in the week. Tomorrow morning, it’ll offer another preview to members of the media.
The long-awaited eatery is the brainchild of the building’s owner Jacques Klempf and his Forking Amazing Restaurants group. It’ll join a family of restaurants that also includes Il Desco in Riverside and Bistro Aix in San Marco.
“When I purchased this building in 2014, I had a vision for a restaurant that would reflect Northeast Florida’s history, cuisine and culture. I am thrilled to share that our doors will officially open next Thursday,” Klempf said in the press release announcing the opening date. “On behalf of the entire Cowford Chophouse team, I’d like to thank the Jacksonville community for its tremendous support as we’ve worked to restore this building and prepare it for a new chapter in Downtown’s history.”
The project, which involved restoring the historic Bostwick Building and converting it into an elegant restaurant, has been in development since Klempf purchased the building in 2014.
According to the press release, the restaurant will serve “classic chophouse fare with coastal and Southern influences.”
They’re already taking reservations for opening day, both on their website and on the OpenTable app.
