5 Great Places to Buy Beer in Jacksonville (Other than a Bar)

So you want to try some local beer, or maybe you’re just thirsty for any old brew.

Where are the best stores to grab local – or national – beer? Sure, you can go to Publix or Walmart, but we’re all about supporting local businesses here. Here’s a list of locally-based beer stores that we love, and that we’re sure you’ll love too.

BEER:30

1271 King St. (Riverside) | 1543 San Marco Blvd. (San Marco)
Beer:30 boasts two locations, one in Riverside and one in San Marco. The San Marco location was recently expanded into an adjacent unit, effectively doubling its space. Meanwhile, the Riverside location recently added Keg and Coin, an arcade bar stocked with a wide array of vintage games.

ALEWIFE

1035 Park St.
Located in the middle of Five Points, Alewife Bottle Shop and Tasting Room features a large collection of local and national beers, with both refrigerated individual and packaged options available. They also have seating space and board games available to play while you drink.

REALLY GOOD BEER STOP

323 10th Ave. N. (Jax Beach)
At Really Good Beer Stop, it’s all about the growlers. You choose either a 32- or 64-ounce growler, then get it filled up with the brew of your choice. The 32-ounce option is available as a growler or a “crowler” – a can growler, basically a giant beer can.
They also have bottles and cans available, but that’s just not as fun, is it?

TOWN BEER CO.

1176 Edgewood Ave. S. #4
Unlike the other stores on our list, Town Beer Co. keeps it completely local. The Murray Hill beer shop sells and serves only local brews, making it a great place to go if you want to learn about the Jax beer scene – or sample beers from all the breweries without trying to go to all of them in one day. (Although that could be a fun idea too…)

GRASSROOTS NATURAL MARKET

2007 Park St.
A short walk from Alewife on Park St., Grassroots Natural Market is probably not your first thought for a craft beer shop. But the market has a pretty extensive selection of craft beer available by the bottle. Not to mention there’s the added advantage of being able to pick up some groceries while you’re there.
