#904WKND: Southeast US Boat Show, Historic Springfield Tour, New Food Trucks!

#904WKND is your weekly, curated guide to the most interesting things going on in Jacksonville this weekend.

Here are our picks for the weekend of May 19-21!

Southeast US Boat Show

Where: Metropolitan Park

When: Friday, May 19 from 10 AM to 8 PM; Saturday, May 20 from 10 AM to 8 PM, Sunday, May 21 from 10 AM to 6 PM

Why: For boating and fishing enthusiasts, this is one of the biggest events of the year. The boat show is entering its 21st year here, and will feature a huge collection of boats, kayaks, and marine accessories.

In addition to the show itself, there’ll be several contests with cash prizes, craft beer from Bold City Brewery and Ancient City Brewing Co., live local bands as part of the Oyster Jam Music Festival, food trucks and other local vendors.

Tickets for adults are $12.

Historic Springfield Tour of Homes

Where: 1501 N. Main St. (starting point)

When: Saturday, May 20 from 12 to 5 PM; Sunday, May 21 from 12 to 5 PM

Why: The 39th annual Historic Springfield Tour of Homes, hosted by the Springfield Preservation and Revitalization Council, will showcase six beautifully renovated historic homes in the Springfield community – as well as one newly-constructed building that fits into the historic environment of the neighborhood. You can walk, bike, or drive during the tour, which starts at 1501 N. Main St.

It’s an amazing showcase of what can be done to preserve the history of Jacksonville while adding a modern flair. Once the tour is complete, you can walk down to Hyperion Brewing Co., which is celebrating its grand opening in Springfield this weekend.

Tickets can be purchased online for $20.

New Trucks on the Block

Where: Jacksonville Landing

When: Saturday, May 20 from 4 to 9 PM

Why: The Landing and Jax Truckies are playing host to more than 20 of the newest food trucks in Jacksonville this Saturday, as they show down for the New Trucks on the Block trophy.

There’ll be games, music, prizes, and craft beer available in addition to food from all of the trucks. Here’s a list of the trucks confirmed for the event: Balu’s Surf Shack, CackyLacky, Caribbean Sunrise, Cajun Cravin’s 2 Go, El Chamo Crillo, El Mariachi Loko, Elizabeth’s Fusion, Funnel Cake Queen, Josie’s Latin Fusion, Mr. Potato Spread, Rite on Que, Team Love’s Seafood, Van D’s Dutch Delights, Wurstbusters, Twisting Roots, Joy Shtick, Cajun Cravin’s 2 Go, and Munchees Coney Island.

The event is free to attend – but, obviously, you have to pay for the food and drinks.
