The Jacksonville Sharks came off their second bye week of the 2019 season with another matchup against their longtime rivals, the Orlando Predators, this past Friday night.
And while things didn’t get quite as ugly for the Predators as they did in the teams’ first meeting of the year, it was still a dominant 48-20 win for the Sharks.
Jacksonville came out hot, as they did two weeks ago, with QB Jonathan Bane bouncing back from his knee injury to throw for three first-half touchdowns. When combined with two deuce conversions and a safety, it amounted to an early 18-0 Sharks lead.
Orlando would finally get on the board with just under 12 minutes left in the first half, but the Sharks would still carry a 25-13 lead into the half.
The second half was all Sharks, with Bane racking up another 3 TD passes and the defense holding Orlando to just one second-half score.
Bane went 18-28 for 223 yards and 6 TDs. Bane now has 29 TD passes through the first six games – second only to E.J. Nemeth of the New York Streets.
WR Devin Wilson continued his amazing start to the season, pulling in six catches for 102 yards and 2 TDs. Wilson’s 629 receiving yards on the year are good for first in the league.
Durron Neal also had six catches for 54 yards and 2 TDs. Jarmon Fortson and Alstevis Squirewell both added one TD catch each.
With their victory over the Predators, the Sharks have now won five games in a row. They advance to 5-1 and are currently in first place in the NAL.
Next week, the Sharks will look to continue their winning streak at home against the Columbus Lions.
