A Local Sidekick for Jacksonville’s New IKEA

There’s a whole lot of excitement in Jacksonville about IKEA coming to town, and one new local company has turned the new store’s opening into an awesome business idea.

When the Swedish furniture megastore opens its doors this fall, Assembly Smart will begin offering IKEA furniture delivery and assembly services.

Their premise is simple: no one likes putting together furniture from IKEA. The instructions are often infuriating unclear, and the process turns into one lengthy headache.

If it’s a particularly large piece of furniture, it may even be difficult just to get it home.

That being said, when put together the right way, IKEA furniture is insanely durable. It’s a big part of why the brand is so popular.

Assembly Smart aims to take away all of that frustration by offering delivery and assembly services for all IKEA furniture. The company will pick up your furniture from IKEA, deliver it to your house, assemble it for you, and get rid of all the boxes and plastic bags and whatnot.

“I think IKEA makes great, affordable furniture that, if assembled correctly and taken care of by homeowners, can last many, many years,” says Jacob Wulff, the company’s founder. “We want to provide a service to Jacksonville that frees up their precious time, while giving them a new appreciation for the flatpack furniture assembly model.”

Once the store opens, IKEA shoppers will be able to request Assembly Smart’s services through their website. They’ll then be contacted to book an appointment. Their services start at an hourly rate of $49.

The company also offers assembly of other flatpack furniture and exercise equipment, as well as Nest thermostat and security camera installation, among other services. It serves the Jacksonville, Jax Beach, and Orange Park areas.
