PHOTOS: Art Walk Comes Back Strong

Downtown Jacksonville’s monthly Art Walk has evolved into one of the city’s most culturally significant events. Its popularity has grown rapidly in the past couple of years as serious efforts to bring activity and culture back to the urban core have finally begun to pay off after lots of hard work.

It’s no surprise, then, that a high-profile shooting at January’s Art Walk had a lot of people fearing that all of the progress made would be instantly reversed.

Instead, the event came back strong as ever Wednesday night.

As promised, security was significantly increased – especially near the Landing, where another high-profile shooting occurred just a few days after last month’s event.

While things got off to a relatively slow start, the crowds increased dramatically around 7:00 and continued into the night. Attendance for the evening was contributed to by the launch of the highly-anticipated “Kesha” exhibit at the Main Library.

The general consensus was that attendance was slightly reduced, but still solid – and better than many expected.

While some vendors opted not to return, the majority of the usual suspects were there – along with a few newcomers.

Check out some of the photos we snapped during the event below.
