Anthony Smith’s First Foray into Fashion Shows is a Hit

Local artist Anthony Smith recently followed up his first gallery exhibition this past spring with The Make You Put Your Phone Down Fashion Show.

The show took place at Cuba Libre Ultra Lounge on November 4, and was Smith’s first foray into staging a fashion show. He and his team, Unspoken Memories, corresponded with designers, stylists, musical acts, artists and more to put together a full-scale fashion show.

“I wanted to bring a full production fashion show to Jacksonville just like Rip the Runway or Victoria’s Secret,” said Smith.

Smith himself didn’t sleep the week before the show between fielding calls and running rehearsals, and referred to it as a “taxing process.”

But it was all worthwhile as the show went off without a hitch, and was well received by the crowd in attendance.

As was the case with his previous project, the models who participated in the show raved about Smith.

“I absolutely love Anthony’s professionalism and how he brought the event together,” said Kirrian Janay, one of the show’s models. “Anthony brought everything and everyone together effortlessly.”

Fellow participant Trey Barnes concurred.

“I was definitely drawn toward [Smith’s] professionalism and his prowess as a businessman,” said Barnes. “He has a vision for his business and is trying to change the culture in Jacksonville through Team Unspoken.”

Smith was, of course, equally complimentary of his team.

“My team works hard and I wanted them to have the main stage and murder the runway,” said Smith, “and they absolutely did!”

Smith’s team has taken itself to another level, and he believes it’s still just the beginning. He and his team plan to launch a full-fledged modeling agency in the first quarter of 2018, marketing toward small businesses in need of models for their projects.

We’re eager to see where Smith’s next artistic adventures take him.
