Amphitheater & Upgrades Coming to Everbank Field

Yesterday, the Jacksonville City Council unanimously approved splitting costs for a $90 million upgrade plan for downtown’s Everbank Field which includes the construction of an amphitheater adjacent to the stadium, according to a press release on the Jaguars’ official website.

The project will also involve the construction of a covered practice field for the Jaguars, as well as upgrades to the club seating within the stadium. This will involve the removal of up to 3,000 seats within the stadium.

The amphitheater, to be constructed next to the stadium, is expected to seat 5,000, and will hopefully allow the city to draw more concerts and events in the coming years.

Construction is expected to begin following the TaxSlayer Bowl on January 2, and it is hoped that at least the club seating upgrades will be finished by next fall in time for the next football season.

This will mark the second major round of improvements for the 20-year-old Everbank Field since the Jaguars were bought by billionaire Shahid Khan. Previous renovations involved a $63 million upgrade to video screens that also included the addition of small swimming pools on one side of the stadium.
