Taste of Jacksonville Food Tours was founded by the husband-and-wife team of Lisa and Rick Kiral, who were inspired to launch their business after seeing similar tours in other cities while traveling. Lisa is a lifelong resident of the city’s San Marco neighborhood, while Rick, a Pennsylvania native, came to Jax as part of his twenty years of service in the Navy.

Together, they host weekly walking food tours that offer both residents and visitors a glimpse of the local culinary scene.

The tours usually last around two-and-a-half to three hours. The leisurely walking path takes you to five or six restaurants within a mile-and-a-half radius and offers views of beautiful local neighborhoods, as well as a run-down of the area’s history and culture. You’ll get to taste a wide variety of items ranging from falafel to fried chicken doughnut sandwiches while learning about the area and – assuming you bring your camera – getting some great photos as well.

Right now, the company’s featured tour is “Savoring San Marco,” which takes you on a food tour through historic San Marco.

Private tours are available for things like team-building exercises, bridal showers, and so on. You can customize the time and date, number of tastings, dietary elements, and just about anything else based on your group’s needs.

Tickets for the tour are $49.99 each. A portion of each ticket sale is donated to a local nonprofit serving families in need of food, with the aim of helping in the fight against hunger and food shortage. Gift certificates are also available for purchase.
