Building Up Jax: Update at 1st and Main building; two approved for build-out at Durbin Park

1ST AND MAIN BUILDING TO BECOME OFFICE AND EVENT SPACE

The owner of the 1st and Main building at 1101 N. Main St. in Springfield provided an update on the property’s progress.

According to a Facebook post by Amy Smith, one-half of the husband and wife team that owns the property, the upstairs portion is being built out as office space, with her husband’s Smith Brothers Plastering set to move into the space early next year.

Meanwhile, the downstairs portion of the building is set to become an event venue with a small kitchen for caterers. It will be called Brick and Beam and is set to open in May 2019.

Amy and her husband Josh purchased the building earlier in the year. It’s been vacant for a few years; prior to that, it was home to The Pearl nightclub.

The outside of the building features the “Welcome to Springfield” mural that was added in late 2016.
