Jacksonville Business Owner Featured on NBC’s “The Titan Games”

The series premieres tonight at 8:00 PM on WTLV

NBC’s new sports competition reality show, “The Titan Games,” will feature a bit of local flavor during its first season.

Jacksonville, FL-based barber and small business owner Angel Villegas will be one of 64 competitors on the new show, which premieres tonight at 8:00 PM.

The series is created and presented by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and comes from the same production company as “American Ninja Warrior,” which served as a loose inspiration for Johnson when creating the show. It seeks to find exceptional everyday men and women and grant them the opportunity to push themselves to the limit on a national stage.

Competitors will face off in a series of daunting mental and physical challenges for the chance to become one of six “Titans.” The finale will narrow it down even further to one male and one female champion who will receive a $100,000 grand prize.

Villegas, 28, founded Raw Cuts Barber Shop in Jacksonville. He was selected in part because of his inspiring story – he became a barber at age 14 to help his struggling family, opening a shop of his own at 22. The barbershop has since expanded to feature three area locations – one at the Beaches, one in Orange Park, and one on the Southside.

Eight competitors will be featured in each episode of the show. It’s currently unclear which episode(s) Villegas will be featured in, but be sure to tune in periodically to cheer him on!
