UF Health is set to construct its first free-standing emergency room facility in the Jacksonville area.
The hospital received a permit this week for the construction of a new 24-hour emergency medical treatment and urgent care center at 888 Lane Avenue South in the Normandy Village neighborhood. The one-story, 11,716-square-foot building will feature 10 exam rooms, a trauma and resuscitation room, a CT scan room, and a X-ray room as well as administrative and waiting space.
The property is currently home to a former Ameris Bank branch building, which was constructed in 2008 and has been closed since 2018; it will be demolished to accommodate the UF Health project. Before Ameris, the site was home to a Shoney’s restaurant building, which was constructed in 1989 and demolished in 2007.
The new facility will be UF Health’s first free-standing ER in Jacksonville. A second facility is proposed for the Dunn Village shopping center.
Charles Perry Partners is listed as the contractor for the $6 million project.
