Building Up Jax: Springfield Scoops nears debut; AutoZone plans two new area locations

Building Up Jax is a weekly article series, posted each Saturday morning, that provides you with the latest updates on development and construction in the greater Jacksonville area.

SPRINGFIELD SCOOPS TAKES STEP FORWARD ALONG MAIN STREET

Springfield Scoops received a certificate-of-use permit at 1807 N. Main St.

The ice cream shop was in the works prior to the arrival of COVID-19 and now is taking its final steps to prepare for opening. It had previously received a sign permit in March.

The shop joins a Walgreens community pharmacy among the tenants within its two-story building, which was constructed in 1908. It will occupy a ground-floor unit that was most recently used by Ferd’s Tax Service.

AUTOZONE PLANNING DUNN AVE., NORTHERN ST. JOHNS STORES

Auto parts retailer AutoZone submitted plans for two new Jax-area stores this week.

One of those stores will be located at 6765 Dunn Ave. within the Dunn Village shopping center. The other is a previously-announced location within Bartram Market in northern St. Johns County.
