Building Up Jax: MOSH 2.0 scores $2.5mil from VyStar

MOSH 2.0 PROJECT GETS FIRST MAJOR FUNDING

The Museum of Science & History (MOSH) announced this week that VyStar Credit Union has pledged $2.5 million toward MOSH 2.0, a planned expansion and renovation of the museum.

VyStar will be recognized as the title sponsor for the VyStar Credit Union Cultural Ecosystem, a display that will feature details on Jacksonville’s history, and CEO Brian Wolfburg will become a member of the museum’s board of trustees.

VyStar is additionally sponsoring free admission for military personnel and their families on April 18.

MOSH 2.0 is a planned $80 million renovation to the museum’s campus that was announced last year. It has since been seeking private and public funds to turn the 2.0 vision into a reality; the VyStar announcement represents the project’s first small step forward.

LOVE’S MOVING FORWARD AT I-10 & US 301

Love’s Travel Stop & Country Store received multiple permits for the construction of its gas station and travel center at 17110 Brandy Branch Rd., just off of I-10 and U.S. Route 301 near Baldwin.

The new location will feature a travel center, fueling stations, tire shop, a Godfathers Pizza, and a Bojangles.

COMMUNITY FIRST READYING DIAMOND-S BUILDING

Community First Credit Union received a permit for interior demolition at the former Elkins / Diamond-S building at 701 W. Adams St.

The credit union is preparing the building for conversion into an extension of its existing downtown headquarters, located a few blocks over at 637 N. Lee St.

The existing HQ building will be retained by the credit union and repurposed.

• A series of permits were issued to Chadbourne V LLC for the construction of a nine-building, 270-unit multifamily residential complex at 9849 Crosshill Blvd.
• Chipotle received a permit for build-out at 50 Riverside Ave.
• Plans were submitted for an extension of E. Peyton Pkwy. in northern St. Johns County to accommodate the development of the second phase of Durbin Park.
• Heartland Dental received a permit for build-out within a former bank building at 4569 Town Center Pkwy.
• Rowe’s IGA received a permit for renovations at its existing location at 1012 N. Edgewood Ave.
• TSO Normandy Self Storage received a permit for construction of a new three-story, $4 million self-storage building at 9135 Herlong Rd.
• First Watch received a permit for build-out at 9680 Argyle Forest Blvd.
• Richmond American Homes submitted plans for Scarlett Oaks, a 64-home subdivision slong Yellow Bluff Rd. near New Berlin Rd.
