The city is planning to get rid of the historic Atlantic Coast Line locomotive that sits outside the Prime Osborn Convention Center.
An ordinance approved this week by the city’s zoning board would allow the city to remove the train car’s historic landmark status, at which point it would be donated to the National Railway Historical Society for restoration and operation as a passenger train.
The train car, located at 1000 W. Bay St., was originally designated a landmark in 2009.
This week, Walmart received permits for renovations to three of its existing stores in Jacksonville.
The impacted locations are at 6830 Normandy Blvd., 4250 Philips Hwy., and its location within River City Marketplace.
