Building Up Jax: City giving away historic train car at Prime Osborn Center

Building Up Jax is a weekly article series, posted each Saturday morning, that provides you with the latest updates on development and construction in the greater Jacksonville area.

City to get rid of Prime Osborn Center train car

The city is planning to get rid of the historic Atlantic Coast Line locomotive that sits outside the Prime Osborn Convention Center.

An ordinance approved this week by the city’s zoning board would allow the city to remove the train car’s historic landmark status, at which point it would be donated to the National Railway Historical Society for restoration and operation as a passenger train.

The train car, located at 1000 W. Bay St., was originally designated a landmark in 2009.

Walmart to remodel three local stores

This week, Walmart received permits for renovations to three of its existing stores in Jacksonville.

The impacted locations are at 6830 Normandy Blvd., 4250 Philips Hwy., and its location within River City Marketplace.
