Building Up Jax: Chick-fil-A coming to Lakewood; Made in Space moving HQ to Jax

CHICK-FIL-A PLANS LOCATION IN LAKEWOOD

Chick-fil-A is adding a new location in the Lakewood area.

The fast-food chain submitted plans to convert the existing structure at 3814 University Blvd. W. into a new 4,966 sq. ft. restaurant that will seat 112 people. The building was originally used as a Krispy Kreme location.

MADE IN SPACE TO MOVE HEADQUARTERS TO JAX

Gov. Ron DeSantis announced yesterday that space manufacturing technology company Made in Space will relocate its corporate headquarters from Silicon Valley to its existing offices in Jacksonville.

The company will invest $3 million into expanding its space within Baymeadows Business Center at 8226 Philips Hwy., and it has already added 50 employees with plans to add even more jobs in the future.

MEDICAL BUILDING, APARTMENTS PLANNED ALONG NORMANDY BLVD.

Chesapeake-Portsmouth Broadcasting Corporation submitted plans to redevelop its property at 7002 Normandy Blvd. into a 15,500 sq. ft. medical office building.

The plans also include a second phase behind the office component that shows a 12-building multifamily development with a community center, playground, and dog park. The second phase would also be accessible from Lenox Ave.

NOTED PROJECTS

  • Firehouse Subs received a permit for build-out within the Baptist Health building at 800 Prudential Dr.
  • Plans were submitted for Ascend Durbin Creek Crossing, a 12-building, 350+ unit multifamily development that will be part of the Durbin Creek Crossing mixed-use development in northern St. Johns County.
  • Eleven:22 received a permit related to the construction of its newly-expanded, $15.6 million church campus at 14286 Beach Blvd.
  • Pulte Homes submitted plans for Timber Cove, a 72-home single-family development at Starratt Rd. and Yellow Bluff Rd.
  • First Florida Credit Union received a permit related to construction of two new branch locations: one at 3280 Tamaya Blvd., and one at Durbin Creek Crossing in northern St. Johns County.
