In this week’s edition of Building Up Jax, we discuss an interesting new development in downtown’s sports district.
Iconic Real Estate Investments has purchased the former George Doro Fixture Company property at 102 A Philip Randolph Blvd., located across the street from the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville complex, according to Jacksonville Business Journal. The company already owns property next door which is under development to become a new location for Intuition Ale Works.
It’s not clear what the plan for the Doro property is just yet, but presumably it will involve bar and restaurant tenants. Given its location across the street from both the Baseball Grounds and the Veterans Memorial Arena, any such project would be a huge boost to making the sports complex district a hot spot for entertainment.
In other sports complex news, the Jacksonville Suns filed for a permit for renovations within the Baseball Grounds including the construction of a new tiki bar.
According to Jax Daily Record, Recovery Zone Cryogenic Therapy will open in Brooklyn Station in May. The spa will focus on offering cryogenic therapy, which involves the use of liquid nitrogen to briefly create freezing temperatures that supposedly offer healing benefits to the human body. It’s not known if the benefits are real, nor if the therapy is completely safe, but it’s a growing trend of late.
