Building Up Jax, 11/19: Baptist Health and Walgreens partner up, Cowford Chophouse update, and more

This week: Baptist Health and Walgreens have begun a new partnership, Cowford Chophouse gives another development update, plus several other notes from a busy week in Jacksonville development.

Baptist Health + Walgreens = 🙂 ?

Baptist Health and Walgreens are entering into a partnership that will bring a Walgreens pharmacy to Baptist’s Prudential Drive facilities, according to a Walgreens press release.

Starting next year, six retail pharmacies located in Baptist Health facilities will close, with patients being referred to nearby Walgreens locations.

Additionally, Walgreens will take over the pharmacy at the Baptist Medical Center at 800 Prudential Drive.

In exchange, Baptist Health will take over wellness clinics at three different Walgreens locations around Jacksonville – one in Ponte Vedra, one in Mandarin, and one along CR 220. The new clinics will be re-branded as “Baptist Health Clinic at Walgreens”, and are expected to make the switch around May of next year.

Cowford Chophouse update

Cowford Chophouse, the long-pending revival of the old Trust and Savings Bank building into an upscale steakhouse, held its topping-off ceremony Friday morning.

The restaurant detailed its construction progress via press release following the ceremony. In addition to the installation of the highest steel beam, the overall steel structure installation is now 80% complete. Additionally, the upstairs kitchen is framed and wired.

The next step for the project will be finalizing the steel structure and installing restored bricks from the historic building’s original structure.

Northside Park-n-Ride

Jacksonville Transportation Authority held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a new JTA Park-n-Ride on Armsdale Road this week.

The lot, which officially opens in December, will connect Northside residents to downtown and the Southside. It’ll be part of the new First Coast Flyer bus system, which is now rapidly beginning to come together ahead of its launch.
