Miami-based digital parenting publication Munchkin Fun recently announced their expansion into the Jacksonville market.
The startup curates newsletters and community calendars that help parents find local events that they can enjoy with their kids. It highlights a wide variety of fun, family-friendly events – some of which are free. For many of the ones that require tickets, Munchkin Fun offers the ability to purchase those tickets through its website. It also puts together seasonal guides for the holidays, camp season, and the summer, as well as a guide on finding swimming lessons for your child.
The goal is to use technology to help parents connect offline with their kids and to make it easier to find kid-friendly community events.
“I started Munchkin Fun while on maternity leave with our first (of three) daughters,” says Valerie Schimel, the publication’s founder. “I’m proud to say that we now help 175,000 Florida parents find fun things to do with their kids every week.”
Jacksonville will be the sixth market that the publication, which is the largest of its kind in Florida, has entered. It also publishes newsletters and calendars in Miami, Broward, Palm Beach County, Central Florida, and Tampa Bay.
The publication will also soon offer local recommendations for events with a focus on inclusion for differently-abled children.
