Walmart Health to Make Its Florida Debut in Jacksonville

Walmart Health, the in-store, all-in-one healthcare clinic concept from retailer Walmart, is set to make its debut in the state of Florida through the Jacksonville market.

The big-box retailer announced earlier today that it plans to expand the Walmart Health concept, which currently operates in Arkansas and Georgia, to Florida next year. And it will first focus on launching the clinics in the Jacksonville area.

Walmart Health locations offer full-service primary and urgent care clinics, medical labs including X-ray machines and diagnostics, counseling, dental, optical, and hearing services, all in one central facility within existing Walmart stores.

“The combined crises of the COVID-19 pandemic, the economic recession, and subsequent loss of health insurance for millions of Americans have reinforced the vulnerabilities of our healthcare system. At Walmart, we understand that this means our customers need us now, more than ever,” said Sean Slovenski, president of health and wellness for Walmart, in a post on the chain’s corporate blog. “We recognize we can make an impact by increasing access to quality, affordable and convenient healthcare as we invest millions of dollars and expand Walmart Health into Florida, which is home to the second-highest number of Walmart stores in the country.”

Walmart Health first launched in September 2019 within an existing Walmart Supercenter in Dallas, GA. It has since added two more Georgia clinics, as well as one in Arkansas. Stores that have added clinics thus far have also had their vision center and pharmacy departments revamped in the interest of creating better customer experiences.

More details on plans for the Jacksonville-area clinics, such as specific locations, will be announced in the near future.
