Building Up Jax: Good Dough expands to Town Center; escape rooms hit the area malls

GOOD DOUGH HEADING TO SJTC

Popular San Marco artisan doughnut shop Good Dough is expanding to a second location at St. Johns Town Center.

Good Dough is set to open a new location at the Town Center, next to Starbucks Coffee near Maggiano’s. According to the shop’s Facebook page, it will operate essentially as an extended pop-up shop, staying at the spot for a year.

The mall’s website says it’s expected to open November 5.

ESCAPE ROOM FAD HITS THE MALLS

The growing escape room trend is now expanding into our area malls.

The Escape Game received a permit for build-out at 4720 Town Crossing Dr. in St. Johns Town Center. And Escapeology received a permit for build-out at 10320 Shops Ln. in Avenues Walk, just down the street from The Avenues.

PUBLIX TO REMODEL TWO STORES

Publix received permits to renovate two of its locations: one at 9518 Argyle Forest Blvd. and one at 731 Duval Station Rd.

NOTED PROJECTS

Aloft Hotel was issued a permit to renovate its location at 751 Skymarks Dr. near Jacksonville International Airport.

CSX received a permit to renovate the 14^th floor of its building at 500 Water St. at a cost of $2.8 million.

Dough Life, a national cookie dough chain, is now open at The Avenues.

Verizon received a permit for build-out at 11949 Atlantic Blvd.

Starbucks Coffee received a permit for build-out at 11850 McCormick Rd.

Royal Amelia Dance Academy has been announced as the third tenant within Skinner Bros Realty’s commercial building in development at Wildlight.
