Building Up Jax is a weekly article series, posted each Saturday morning, that provides you with the latest updates on development and construction in the greater Jacksonville area.
A permit was issued for the demolition of a historic office and nightclub building at 618 W. Forsyth St.
The three-story building, sometimes referred to as the Kartouche building in honor of its most recent tenant, was constructed in the early 1900s and has been home to several different types of businesses over the years. Most recently, it was home to a series of nightclubs including a brief tenure as The Milk Bar. It has been vacant for over a decade.
A new Daily’s convenience store and gas station is currently proposed for the property. Another existing building at 60 N. Broad St., formerly a bank building, would likely be demolished as well if Daily’s chooses to move forward.
