It was a slow week for development news in Jacksonville, likely due to the anticipation of Tropical Storm Hermine. Nonetheless, we’ve got a few projects noted for you in this week’s edition Building Up Jax.
Village Commons
A new shopping center will be constructed along Southside Blvd. across from the Tinseltown area.
AT&T and breakfast restaurant chain First Watch will occupy the center, to be called Village Commons. The project’s rendering indicates a few other available spots, so presumably more tenants will be announced in the near future.
A shopping center had been planned here for quite a while, but now the project is finally being realized. It’s expected to be completed sometime next year.
Noted projects
- Burger King at 250 Monument Rd. was approved for a $221,000 renovation.
- Mack’s Tenders, a new concept from the founder of Dick’s Wings, will open two Jacksonville locations by the end of the year: one at 11362 San Jose Blvd., and the other at 14866 Old St. Augustine Rd. (via Jax Daily Record)
- The Great American Bagel will open in the Jacksonville International Airport, according to Jax Daily Record.
- Local jeweler Underwood’s will close its location at The Avenues. Its other locations will be unaffected.
